I never show my face: how I built this channel with AI
In short
This channel is faceless, and here's the exact stack. Script: Claude writes every script. Voice: free Kokoro voices from GitHub; I tested them side by side and kept the warm one. Avatar: OpenArt turned my photo into the anime face, and Rhubarb lip-syncs the mouth shapes. Render: Remotion + ffmpeg (CapCut free works too). Day 1 was a static face; now it has lip-sync, word captions and scenes. Voices, captions and rendering cost $0; only the OpenArt images used paid credits.
Label from the original post: Voice and avatar are AI-generated.
Checklist: what to do about it
- Pick one niche and write down 10 ideas before you make anything.
- Write a 45-second script with a hook in line one, and cut every line you trip on when you read it aloud.
- Make the voice with a free open-source model (Kokoro) before you pay for anything.
- Edit with a visual change every 3–4 seconds and turn on auto captions.
- Put the hook text big on the cover, and give the caption one ask only.
- Label AI voice and AI avatar as AI-generated.
- Start free. Pay only when a tool is slowing you down.
The GUIDE: faceless channel in 30 minutes
Five steps, all doable on free tiers. These are the prompts from the guide the reel's GUIDE keyword sends.
1. Pick a niche + 10 ideas (0–5 min)
Use a free AI chatbot (ChatGPT or Claude free tier).
Give me 10 faceless reel ideas about [topic] for beginners, each with a one-line hook.2. Write a 45-second script (5–12 min)
Same chatbot. Read it out loud once and cut any line you trip on.
Write a 45-second script for idea #1: a hook in line one, 3 quick steps, one call to action.3. Make the voice (12–18 min)
Free: an open-source voice like Kokoro (Apache-2.0). Paid: ElevenLabs. Export one audio file.
4. Edit + auto captions (18–28 min)
CapCut free: add the voice, screen recordings or stock clips, a visual change every 3–4 s, then Auto captions.
5. Cover + post (28–30 min)
Hook text big on the cover. Caption with ONE ask. Label the AI voice as AI. Post.
